Easter Sunday
hello everyone,
i just returned from the 12 o’clock Easter service at the Brooklyn Tabernacle - it was an amazing, moving service that touched a nerve in me. hopefully this is not disrespectful but i must mention that this is the first time i have seen a mirrored disco ball utilized in a reenactment of the creation story! seriously, they staged an abbreviated version of Christ's life that had me in tears most of the time. and some of you know i am not a religious person! very moving. church wasn't like this back at St. Luke’s in Shoreline. the music was great. and this in a church that ministers in a former theater, much like the 5th Avenue theater back in Seattle. 4100 seats, and they still had to seat the overflow congregation into their learning center building to watch it on closed circuit TV. perhaps i should go to church more often; it was both energizing and draining...and the first time i can remember a sermon speaking to me in a very long time.
coincidentally, today is also my 6 month anniversary of moving here to Brooklyn and perhaps it’s fitting that i should be reminded of my blessings, and how our lives are intertwined....
OK. back to this newsletters’ secular point!
