Celia's February e-news

Yikes, this newsletter gets later each month. Sorry about that! I do appreciate your emails letting me know you are following these adventures-so here we go-and I'll try to be more timely! Either that or go bimonthly :)

  1. Recap of Jan/Feb
  2. Upcoming shows
  3. Wishing Well

MONTHLY RECAP

In addition to my “west coast tour” (well, a 2-1/2-day stop in Seattle to see my family then a 2-1/2 day stop in the San Francisco area to sing at a dear friend's wedding) at the end of Jan., the Autumn band has been quite busy as we work up additional sets of material. I had another fun show with Louis Atlas - ya, mon. In the studio, I provided vocals (multitracked into a chorus! cool.) on a recording with composer Andy Brick for a project called “Merregnon,” which will be a CD of works by game composers (not for games, just for fun). Also, I did some work with producer Christian Cassan, in his hip Williamsburg studio. I met both of these guys on my first visit to NY last April and it was my pleasure to finally be able to sing for them.

WISHING WELL

The Telenovela version of this song is one of the most popular I've recorded (doing OK on Weedtunes, still holding at #20). It was originally written within the context of a fading relationship. However, ever since my best friend’s (my “sis” Whitney) visit earlier this month, and watching her efforts to chat online daily with her husband, who is in the Army and stationed in Iraq right now-the song has taken on a new meaning for me. I never anticipated that she would be a military wife, and it’s hard to watch and hear her worry. I would like to dedicate “Wishing Well” to Whit and Graham, and the men and women of the C/52 IN 3/2 SBCT out of Fort Lewis, WA, and their families waiting at home. I can't imagine what it would feel like to watch your loved one leave for work, and not know for sure whether he or she will return-or, constantly wishing your partner could be home for holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, even the birth of a child. And, how odd to build a life together while also bracing for death. This has been a difficult week for the unit as they were subject to two road bombings, with one fatality. Please pray for the safe return of our armed forces!!

That said...I got nuthin’ to complain about here in Brooklyn.
Even the weather is milder today.

Peace and blessings to you,

Celia
