j-j-j-january in brrrrrrrooklyn

hello friends,

it's january in new york, and lest you forget, the biting wind will remind you.

it seems it has taken another snowstorm and deep freeze to get me to hunker down and write to my friends and fans back home...hope all's well in the balmy northwest! i hear y'all had some intense weather a couple of weeks back though.

today i kept warm with some friends by spending the day in the studio. recorded the song "Sunrise," that i used to do with Black Raspberry Avalanche. sounds good with just the basics - piano, fretless bass, drums, and a little alto sax. (thanks to Daniel Mintseris-piano, David Luther-bass and sax, and Darcy Macrae - tasty drums.) of course norah jones came out with her new single with the same title three days ago...hopefully this song will go over well regardless.

my focus for the new year is to bring a band of my very own (!) together and start play out and about in the city and brooklyn with a solid set of originals. not a bad goal, that. so many hot players out here though...difficult choices are ahead of me, but in the best way.

not much new information other than that - just makin' like the Bee Gees and stayin' alive in the big city!
